"The ENP Neural Stem Cells Meeting brought together 120 participants at the Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay, nearby Paris, from the 17th June to the 19th June 2010.
The participants who attended the conference in this impressive historic backdrop hailed from all over the globe (Japan, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Israel, Spain, Sweden, Germany, UK, Belgium, etc…).
The speakers presented their most recent work in the field and the talks covered all of the domains of research in neural stem cells : from their development to more therapeutic aspects. On top of the invited speakers, a few abstracts had been selected to present as short talks.
The innovative work of these young researchers also sparked a considerable amount of interest. All the presentations led to numerous questions and certain debates continued late into the night. The reduced number of participants allowed students to readily communicate with the speakers and certain students approaching the end of their theses were thus able to network for future post-doctoral positions.
After reading the messages of appreciation, we can conclude that this conference was a huge success. Many participants even expressed the desire to return for a second edition..."

BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK 2011 Science Cafe
The ENP and the NeRF supported this year the «Semaine du Cerveau» in the Paris
region. For this event, the ENP organized a «Bar des Sciences 2011», with Catherine Lubetzki
(ENP team’s leader), Bernard Zalc (director of CRICM), Peter Brophy (ENP Sabbatical)
and Jinjin Wu (ENP Student) who explained myelin and demyelination disease to a large
audience. This event hosted 40 attendees and was a success. We are opened to any
suggestion for 2012.

Photophysics and photochemistry of fluorophores. Data analysis and image analysis. Conventional and confocal microscopy. CCD cameras. Patch clamp and extracellular recording. Multi-electrode arrays. In vivo electrical recording. Two-photon confocal and other non-linear microscopy. Light sources and lasers for fluorescence excitation. Fluorescent indicators for calcium and other ions and membrane potential. Adaptive optics in microscopy. Photolysis. Brain slice and In vivo imaging. Viral transfection of genetically encoded markers and indicators.
PROGRAM
24 lectures and eight days hands-on practical work.
Practical work is in three blocks of 2-3 days based around six rigs with two demonstrators for each.
The topics are: Slice recording and synaptic transmission in cerebellum and spinal cord, Extracellular recording and analysis, Dendritic patch recording, CCD imaging of membrane potential, CCD imaging of Ca2+, Photolysis.

Actuel directeur adjoint du centre de recherche de l'Institut du cerveau et de la moelle épinière (CRICM), spécialiste de la maladie de Parkinson, il succède à Alexis Brice (lui aussi chercheur affilié au réseau ENP).
Né le 18 mars 1958 à Paris, Etienne Hirsch est diplômé de l’université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC - Paris VI). Titulaire d’un master en biologie moléculaire et cellulaire ainsi que d’un doctorat de neurobiologie.
Actuellement directeur de recherche au CNRS, il a dirigé plusieurs unités de recherche avant de prendre la direction adjointe du centre de recherche de l'Institut du cerveau et de la moelle épinière à l'hôpital de la Pitié-Salpêtrière en janvier 2009.
Il a été parallèlement Président du Conseil scientifique de la Fédération pour la Recherche sur le Cerveau (FRC) et Président de la Société des Neurosciences jusqu’à fin 2009.
Les prix de la chancellerie s’adressent à tous les étudiants franciliens en droit et sciences politiques, sciences économiques et gestion, médecine et sciences, lettres et sciences humaines et pharmacie.

Information sur les prix solennels 2012
Les dossiers de candidature doivent être déposés auprès des établissements dans lesquels les étudiants sont inscrits ou étaient inscrits au moment de la soutenance de leur thèse. Ces aides et distinctions sont attribuées après un premier choix effectué par les établissements concernés, par des jurys composés chacun de trois personnalités qui sont, soit professeurs d’université, soit membres de l’un des grands corps de l’État ou de l’Institut de France.
La chancellerie attribue également des prix de thèse en droit et en sciences économiques dont la procédure administrative est assurée jusqu’à présent par le service de la recherche et de la communication de l’Université Paris 2 – Panthéon Assas.

Ce Workshop EMBO-FPGG-ICAM se tiendra à l'Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS *) à Paris entre le 23 et 28 de Juillet 2012. Il rassemblera environ 120 physiciens, chimistes et biologistes qui s'intéressent à la perturbation et à l' étude des problèmes physiologiques (développement, le cancer, neurophysiologie, etc) au niveau d'une cellule unique.
Vingt-trois conférenciers invités, leaders dans leur domaine, participeront à cet workshop.

Cette année les journées ENP auront lieu à l'"Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay"
